My name is David.I work as an artist and live between Zurich and Berlin.I graduated from the Hochschule für Bildende Künste - Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main in 2022.
My work embraces sculpture, installation and performance. These are characterized by a cold and sterile aura, used to explore human possibilities.
I am particularly interested in queer and proletarian codes embedded in everyday standardized objects and mass-produced materials, such as sunglasses, doormats, mattresses, flat-screen monitors, and stickers. Additionally, I incorporate building materials like glass, perforated metal sheets, laser levels, screws, aluminum profiles, and scaffolding tubes into my work. These elements form parts of installations that reveal failure, loss, or disparity within the context of psychological and class-related themes.
My work is centered around the human body, omnipresent in its absolute absence. Only in places where the glass loses its transparency does the reflection serve as proof that our bodies have not disappeared entirely. My sculptures and installations possess a submissive quality, reaching their full potential only when enriched by the viewer’s engagement.
The inherent nature of my work invites a symbiotic relationship, wherein the observer becomes an integral part of the artistic narrative. Although my work is committed to narrative, intuition takes precedence. On the other hand, the idea prevails over aesthetics. I make use of the Internet and constantly integrate new technologies. Nature serves as both subject and material in my practice, and I dedicate my work to the exploration of temporality in omnipresent mass-produced materials.
